eMule
File sharing software programs are among the most frequently used applications on the internet. These programs allow users to access files on other people’s computers, via an approved network, and download these files to their own computers. The technology has come under considerable fire from the music industry, because it allows users to trade copyright controlled files without paying for them. The recording industry has sued the creators of file sharing software, and they have even sued the people who use the software, but despite all of the negative attention, the popularity of the software continues to grow. Peer to peer file sharing networks are the most common kinds of file sharing networks. These kinds of networks provide direct connection between users’ computers rather than having a centralized database of files from which to choose. eMule is one of these peer to peer file sharing networks.
About eMule File Sharing Network
eMule was originally created as a competitor to the eDonkey file sharing network. Soon, however, the two networks merged, and they now share networks and file sharing software. eMule operates only on Windows operating system, but there are variants of the system that can operate on Linux and Unix operating system. These variants are made possible because eMule software operated on an open code source system, meaning that all users can access the programming code and use it to create their own versions of the program, like eMule Extreme and XMule.
eMule has one factor that distinguishes it from other peer to peer file sharing systems on the internet. eMule offers its frequent users credits that earn them faster download speeds and priority downloads by giving them priority access to eMule servers. To qualify for these credits, eMule users must allow other users to upload files from their computers – if you use the program only for downloads and block other users from accessing your system and your files, you will not receive any credits. While you can still download without offering uploads, you will be at the back of the line behind the people who do allow uploads. This also applies to people who use eMule behind a firewall – to get the eMule credits, you must be turn off your firewall.
